We visit a small stretch of Grade 1 and 2 white water in Matlock, Derbyshire which is an ideal first trip for whitewater trainees and great for anyone to get some practice. This is a day trip and can be used as part of the training for our White Water Award course or just as a practice session. White Water Award trainees should be pre-registered on the course. All paddlers should be at minimum Paddle Explore / 2 Star level. This is a natural river and has a nice selection of whitewater features to learn on – a great place to learn surfing a wave, crossing a flow and breaking in and out of the current. We meet at 8.00am at the PCC and will be back around 7pm. Bring a packed lunch and some money for drinks and snacks on the motorway.
